I have seen phrases with "earns its keep" a lot when comparing different algorithms and tradeoffs.
"GLM-5.2 cost $21.90, worked overnight as instructed, and earned its keep twice."
It used to be, and buying a few servers was a cheap way to get off the cloud (if you can manage them efficiently). But with RAM and other costs these days... I've had to rethink it a lot.
It's at worst ten times as expensive as it should be. But AWS was already ten to a hundred times as expensive, so even in the computer parts crisis, self hosting is still ahead.
I guess life would be boring if we were all the same. I found the 1.0 litre turbo in the Sandero to be perfectly adequate in power. I hated almost everything else about the car though. And again, I don't usually have this problem, more often I fall in love with the little rental cars we get and start checking how much they are on the used market before remembering we have no need for a second car.
Absolutely, and it is irrational to refuse to buy hardware from Google (which, with Graphene, is under your control) when the alternative is to either run a Google OS on a third party phone (and give up control of the software), or Apple (equally bad), or some impractical and less secure alternative like a Linux phone incompatible with Android apps.
Agreed. I dislike most of Google's products, but their Pixels have secure hardware and are very open (compared to other modern smartphones). In short - a good product for people wanting to run free software on modern-ish smartphones. If a product is good, why not buy it?
Is this any different than current search ads (as far as people ignoring them)?
I think this is a lot better for Google. It's always at the top of the page, harder to block with an adblocker, possibly more trusted (we'll see...)
