just shipped https://addketchup.app/

It's a chrome extension that let's me extract and summarize YouTube videos without even clicking into it.

There's too much YouTube click baits that require a long watch time. This let's me get the sauce without the watch.

The only thing the app uses in this regards is Google OAuth for authentication.

In the permissions page, this counts as "Authentication Information"

I'm never saving passwords, credentials or security questions

OP here.

Why I built this: I often encounter a youtube video that gatekeeps info till the end, but I am unsure if the watch is worth the time spend. So I built this that transcribes then extracts key points from a video so I can make a more informed decision about the watch, and save a summary for future reference.

It's a good idea. Also just getting the top few comments of a video grants ketchup without any inference.

Have you seen DeepMark... https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=49288896 ?

Looks well done - people may bookmark vids and want to use all their YT bookmarks as a source for the sauce. Get all the reading done in one shot.

Lastly, could a bookmarklet prompt an AI to summarize a video by pre-filling a prompt? I suppose that's what is being done here, but via hover windows.

Thank you so much.

The comment sentiment analysis could be great value, I'll experiment with this. Thank you for the idea.

As for your last point, yes, the current workflow does summarize it. Are you saying something like an open ended prompt box where I can say something like "Give me the scoop on what Alex Hormozi's last 10 video"?

No probs.

Yes. Ideally that box would be in a sidebar. On that note: Gemini Chat Sidebar, Sidebar with Gemini and the official Gemini in Chrome all come to mind, for example.

Also, have you seen these: https://greasyfork.org/en/scripts/by-site/youtube.com?site=y...

Seems like a crowded space, that could be a good thing if you differentiate well.

So fun! the knob controls are a bit unintuitive. great job overall.

kudos!

You are right, there are a lot of repitition. But you will see that what comes up as "Grandson" may come up as "Maybe not a good idea" in the "Best Guess" description.

I basically ranked each item from 0 (don't show) to 10 (Best match) for each relationship. So the more you scroll down, you may start seeing some meh results for that particular relationship.

Because every person is unique I have a hard time completely dismissing something (rank as 0) for a particular relationship.

I have plans to add a lot more products. When the total product count reaches more than 300, I think this problem of seeing duplicate results will reduce by a good margin.

Thanks for the feedback! :)

In that case, a clearer way of doing that might be to separate the rank 0s into its own section on the same page. "For Grandpa:" and something more bland like "Other Exciting Items" or something like that. That way, as I'm scrolling down, I see a clear break between what's for Grandpa, and what's probably not going to interest him, but is there "just in case."

That's a great idea :) - A clear seperation will definitely make the recommendations better. I will work on this for next update. Thanks!

An amazon gift card, or cash or a good book is a safe bet for any occasion.

Thanks for the feedback!

You are right, now that I think about it, hitting back while you are browsing product should totally bring you back to the homepage, I just never thought of the scenario.

The fact that you mentioned awesome landing page makes me extra happy. I hand drew the pixel arts myself and had a lot of fun doing it :D
