I thought this was how I felt about South Park as well, but after switching off for several years I went back and watched the recent seasons and honestly, they still got it.
Interesting, I'd kinda lost interesting in the last few seasons were Rick was just a straight asshole with no real growth (or even teasing of growth). Just watching characters treat each other poorly isn't a particularly fun pass time.
That said, I'll try a few new episodes and see if it clicks.
>Arabic speakers [...] have explicit statement from God that Arabic is a holy language sent by God as the most perfect language PERIOD
This is wrong and I couldn't find a serious source stating anything like it. There's nothing in the Muslim faith that suggests the Arabic language itself is holy or sent by God.
The whole post reads a bit like a rant against Arabs suggesting their background precludes adaptation or something of the sorts.
In my experience there is an implicit understanding that Arabic is at least as close to perfect as it gets. The basic reasoning is that the Quran is perfect and written in Arabic, therefore Arabic is perfect. Nobody says this explicitly so the logic doesn't have to be airtight, but native Arabic speakers in Arabic contexts do tend to behave as if this is the case.
Native Arabic speakers don't speak anything resembling Quranic Arabic though. And modern written Arabic is also very different from Quranic Arabic, to the point native speakers need training to understand the Quran.
I think what you mean is that they believe the Quran itself is literary perfection and sent by God through the last prophet, and that is indeed the belief.
But Arabs neither speak nor write like the Quran, and to the best of my knowledge they are well aware that their written and spoken languages have evolved through the centuries (as evidenced by the many Arabic dialects).
To some extend. Most Arabs would understaff 95% of the words and sentences in the Quran with any special training. Some vocabulary is no longer used and you might need to look those words up. What you often need training on however is called Tafser which is about comprehension. To correctly interpreting what those phrases and analogies imply or trying to communicate with the correct context and be able to correlate different parts of the Quran together. It’s like the difference between an average layman being able to “read” a quantum mechanics book, and actually comprehend it.
However, as mentioned most Arabs also believe that Quranic Arabic is that perfection. As a result, you don’t need to “improve” Arabic, individual people need to learn more Quranic Arabic that’s all. You would frequently see religious figures speaking in Al-Fusha to sound closer to Quranic Arabic. Not quite speaking in the convoluted nonsensical way of the Quran, but close enough to trick people’s ear into it. K-12 education teaches “Arabic” classes to every kid where they learn the “proper” Arabic often using the Quran and poetry from around the same time as the Quran as the reading and study material.
Arabic has absolutely a special place in Islam and to Muslims. It’s the language god chose deliberately to communicate his final message to humans, as a well as the language where religious practices in is the “most rewarded” compared to reciting rituals in other languages. Islam and Arabic are permanently intertwined because the Quran, the literal word of God, is very intentionally in Arabic
If my worldview required me to dismiss 40% of American Jews as being "confused and brainwashed" to explain away why they would possibly be critical of Israel, I hope I would start questioning wether I was the one "confused and brainwashed" instead.
90% of Americans are confused about geography, but I wouldn't dismiss them as people. But I certainly wouldn't trust their judgment when asked to point to Papua New Guinea on a map for example. I think it's pretty easy to see the difference between those two things, but you try to claim they are one and the same.
As someone leaning left with big disagreements with the US right atm, I think the right in America would feel the same way if they felt their country's foreign, and to some extent domestic, policy was being hijacked by a small country in sub-Saharan Africa, or Asia (or Europe for that matter). They signed up for America First.
Well the Morocco lobby and the Cuba exile lobby (CANF) are both pretty powerful and both explicitly model themselves after AIPAC. CANF also isn't registered under FARA (though the Morocco one is). Admittedly, neither of them are nearly as powerful as AIPAC
The American conservatives against Israel are self-consistent in that view. America first, not Israel, not Palestine either. But the Republican party line isn't that, it's MIGA.
American leftists... idk what they want. They can't even explain it, it's like they're taking radio commands from Qatar or Iran that they only barely understand.
It's strange to me that in your bubble you think the police in the UK are mainly there to hassle the "Palestine" protestors and interrupt their peaceful "From the river to the sea" chants.
I would say it's a lot more serious that they did nothing to stop the organized Pakistani child-rape gangs, out of fear it might offend people to even acknowledge it.
Either way I can agree with you that it doesn't seem like the police in the UK are using their great power to do much good.
Specifically, think about the reaction you are having based on 1/ your perceived outcomes and 2/ their explanations for it. They seem pretty aligned to me, based on where you are directing your anger. So job well done on their part.
> out of fear it might offend people to even acknowledge it.
this didnt happen btw
the grooming gangs have largely had white perpetrators and all investigations into the police found that they simply do not listen to women, specially those of working class.
Rotherdam where the big asian men case was found, it lasted 17 years and the police had been investigated twice and failed catastrophically both times. With severe reforms recommended and never implemented. And the fear of being racist had never come up.
The case of the grooming gangs gained attention in 2011. And in 2016 the ex chief of police AFTER being investigated and fired due to gross errors then said that he didnt do more because he was afraid of being called racist.
The subsequent report in 2020 from the conservative goverment had that line too, although it also had copy pasted lines from american far right think tanks.
It seems like a convinient excuse to the fact that the police have shown 0 interest in helping poor people in the country for decades, and have shown misogynistic and racist behaviour in every internal investigation ever done (including the 750 page one done after a cop ra ped and murdered Sarah Everrat)
But I guess decades of internal reviews, consistent problems highlighted and demands for police reform can all be ignored due to the convinient excuse of a fired imbecile who allowed hundreds of girls to be hurt under his watch. There was video evidence, he saw and was brought to a judge and ignored because he thought all girls from council states are basically whores. But I am sure he didnt stop it because the people doing it in his case were pakistani. The grooming gang in scotland that were all white must have been because the cops thought the gang might also be foreign? The school grooming gang in Nottingham which was a catholic school and the priests were just moved, those cops also feared that jesus was pakistani?
Really cool work, you get the actual traces. Looks like the vendors can all reliably fix this one though.
A harder to defend against approach here where they work backwards from the results and ask the model to generate a plausible trace:
How to Steal Reasoning Without Reasoning Traces
https://arxiv.org/pdf/2603.07267
Trace Inversion is fascinating, but it’s more of an independent reconstruction that will give you some coherent-looking generated CoT; but not necessarily anywhere close or related to the underlying model’s CoT.
I didn't read the paper in details but they claim there is high overlap between the synthetic traces and the ground truth ones (not sure how they confirmed that for blackbox models though, I guess they must have compared to open source models).
They also talk about successful distillation of black box model capabilities with the approach.
