It also needs an update of STACK, the UB checker discussed in it. It was published as an academic research project ten years ago and never updated, which is a huge pity. The closest we've got today is an AI telling you that what you've done there is probably UB and may cause a problem.
When we were kids we, so most of the kids from the neighborhood, would spend all day down at the beach with no adults around. When it was time for dinner the family that owned the house at the top of the hill would draw the curtains in the living room, which was visible from the beach, to tell all the kids to head back home. No-one ever drowned, died, or got swept out to sea in the inflatable boat we had. And none of the parents batted an eyelid at this, it was normal for kids growing up near the ocean.
That's pretty much it. However it's being pushed very, very hard by oil and gas companies in order to deflect any responsibility away from them. The amount of CO2 this place removes, assuming it can actually be run at full projected capacity, is a minor rounding error in global CO2 emissions. It won't even be noticed.

Nice to see at least one country that has a government that thinks ahead and is proactive. Here our local government is busy issuing building permits for inundation zones (seriously!) because the land is cheap to build on for some reason and if they're packed full of apartments they can collect a ton of property taxes from them.
I've been looking at model checkers and program proof assistants on and off since FDR and Isabelle/HOL and the like, and there were similar tools going back another decade before that. If you're verifying part of an ASIC or a crypto protocol or something similar they're fine (if extraordinarily painful to use), but for anything else they've been bypassed by AI. I'm not saying that as an AI fan but because by the time you get your PhD and then spend another five years learning how to use the tool and mark up the code and hope you got the markup right and after another six months of what feels like trying to make a string go in a certain direction by pushing it and the tool finally finds a nonexploitable buffer overflow in a function that's never called you realise you could have done the same thing with $2 in AI tokens. It's the program verification technology of the future, and always will be, while "claude, find places where this code does things it shouldn't" is right now and doesn't require a PhD to use.
I have a 12-year-old Samsung TV I got off Craigslist for under $100 that displays images, and that's it. Oh, and it plays video off a USB stick if you plug one in.
Friend of mine used to hassle me about my TV, and how his one has much better colour saturation and soundstage and notes of vanilla, toast, smoked bacon, and chocolate. It's a network-connected (to make it work) LG smart TV...
Well my used-a-dumb-display relatively recent Samsung also has great color saturation and perfect OLED blacks. AFAIK you can use LGs in the same way but I haven't owned one myself. I wouldn't take anyone who cares about the sound of built-in TV speakers too seriously though, especially with everything in there having to be as flat as paper - just get external speakers or at least a sound bar and even average options there will blow any TV out of the water.
