I entirely fail to see why Ripple is in any way interesting.
It has none of the attributes of a proper cryptocurrency, has most of the attributes of a traditional (as in: 20th century finance) payment network.
And on top of that, its "founders" benefited from one of the largest airdrop in the history of crypto (among which is the guy who started MtGox [1], only to dump it with a giant invisible hole in the hull to some young, unsuspecting, naive french manga lover with major delusions of being a coder).
